A couple of new YouTube videos have just been added to the RevSoftUK video library. In addition, a new YouTube Channel has been created bringing all of my RevSoftUK OpenInsight videos together.
The two latest videos are a representation of Revelation’s RevDotNet Quick Start Guide. Split over two videos, the first consists of a presentation that looks at using RevDotNet and a closer look at the API itself. The second video explores the process of using a Calendar .NET control in an OpenInsight 9.1 form.
These videos take a while to put together and I am therefore interested to know whether you find these videos useful or not. For this reason, I have included a poll on the blog and I will be very grateful if you could take a couple of moments to cast your vote. Please also use the comments below this posting to suggest any future topics for videos that you might be interested in.

More on the new features found in 9.x please.
ReplyDeleteVideos are useful and help us to get an overview of a subject within a few minutes. Keep them topical, keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteVery useful. Can you help us to do the same sort of thing for our apps?
ReplyDeleteVideos are useful, but please back them up with paper versions as they are easier to follow once you have peaked our interest and we can see the value of the new features.
ReplyDeleteMost of you know my limited technical ability, but sure drop me a line and I'll be happy to take a look at what you need.
ReplyDeleteI'm about to work on a video/presentation for a new product that one of our UK VARs is about to launch - watch for that coming soon (assuming what I produce is good enough ;) .
Thanks - very helpful!
ReplyDeleteSo much to consider and so little time ...
Please keep these coming. Saves printing costs, paper, ink and it's good to watch these over a coffee in the morning and keep up to date on new developments - i assume the next will ne NetOI???
ReplyDeleteI'm considering a video on NetOI, but at the present time Bryan is reviewing the QSG to work with the EXAMPLES application that ships with OpenInsight, rather than the application used at the moment. As this is more readily available to people, I plan to use that – watch this space.
ReplyDeleteVery useful. Continue the great job, but I would like to see Rev home office pick up on this. Other companies, like Progress Software, are even doing their annual user conference via video as travel is becomming more difficult and expensive.
ReplyDeleteGary – thanks for your thoughts. If see myself as an extension of the main Rev office and I just love OI and doing these videos. They not only help me to better understand the technology, but hopefully they will be of value to our developers around the world. However, the US web site has a number of additional videos as well as mine, so they have already picked up on the opportunity to use video for remote tutorials.
ReplyDeleteI’m not a great fan of videoing user group meetings and conferences as they lead to lower attendees from the vendors point of view and video attendees lose so much value by not physically being there. Vendors need attendees for a whole host of reasons, not just economical ones. I hear what you say about the cost, etc., but there really is no substitute to not being at the actual venue. Without a regular mass get together, communities like ours become more and more remote, fragmented and people quickly become isolated. I have made some highly valuable acquaintances at the conferences, that I would otherwise not have made. I’ll be blogging on this in a few weeks time as we get nearer to the world conference in early 2010.
